New Roots is an artist residency for creative writers of all genres. Owned and operated by trans artist Basil Kreimendahl and together with LGBTQIA+ arts activist Jenna Worsham, New Roots was founded in 2022. New Roots is defined by Farm and Family. Our mission is two-fold: to support the work and process of queer artists in a rural retreat setting, and to share queer-centered, community-building arts experiences with our local agricultural community.

Hot Girls Making Out continued development in 2025.
SPACE’s mission is to create an environment singular in its ability to invigorate artists and innovators and their work, and to contribute to the sustainability and resourceful preservation of one of the oldest organic family farms on the East Coast. Unfortunately in 2024 SPACE ceased its current operations.
As a creative resident of SPACE, starting in 2024, right before they closed their doors, Jessica was able to cultivate her playwriting with the same passion and joy that the Ryder farmers use to ensure their crops thrive. Jessica still finds time to run away to Ryder Farm and write amongst its bucolic setting.

"the genuine minstrel show!" has also benefited from development at Ryder Farm.
The Pool is a pop-up, sustainable, and inheritable theater company, which works on an artist-led theater model that puts playwrights at the helm of the process. Founded by Susan Bernfield, Lynn Rosen, and Peter Gil-Sheridan and continued by Kate Cortesi, Brenda Withers, and Emily Zumba, playwrights Jessica Charles, Andrea Stolowitz and Naren Weiss created the third iteration – The Pool 3.0 cohort. When coming together, each playwright had a very specific story to tell. And yet, in the specificity, they found a cultural unity connecting all of their communities.
